Responding to the news that Nick Clegg has agreed to drop Lords Reform, Liberal Left today called for Liberal Democrats to focus on the far more immediate and important issue of the economy and a return to the promises contained in the Liberal Democrat manifesto.
Chair of Liberal Left, Linda Jack said ‘Sadly this decision shows us the hard underbelly of the Tory Party, intent at all costs in defending the establishment at the expense of democracy. However, the issue of Lords Reform has been rather a distraction from the bigger economic issues.
‘Now is the time for Liberal Democrats to focus on the damage being wrought by Osbornomics (the new Thatcherism) and to push for a change of direction on the economy’.
